When Declan got his first set of teeth, I didn’t even realize he was getting a tooth. He didn’t have a fever, get fussy or anything in between. One day he simply put my finger in his mouth and that is when I realize he had two little teeth. However, recently Declan started to get 4 more teeth and I was not as lucky as the first time. This time Declan has gotten a little fever and he became something I knew from the beginning I had to be very careful with. A SNACKER. What does it look like to have a snacker? A baby that is a snacker will…

When I was younger my aunt got pregnant with her first child, I witness the whole pregnancy. However, I believe I did not have the whole story. My aunt loved being pregnant. She thought she was the most beautiful women alive and she several times said that if she could remain pregnant forever she would. WHAT?!?!?
I created this fantasy in my head that I was going to have the same kind of reaction to my pregnancy that my aunt had. Unfortunately, that is NOT what happened. Contrary to my aunt I felt ugly, fat and literally I felt horrible. I couldn’t wait for my pregnancy to be over. As…

Co Sleeping – Why it is not for me

I am not writing this blog post with the intent to change anyone’s mind about co-sleeping. I am writing to inform parents that are trying to figure it out what is best for their families. Story Time When Declan was just a few weeks old he was still sleeping in our bedroom. We had him in the rock and play right next to me. During the night I would wake up, get him and go to the nursery and feed him there. However, one night I was exhausted and without much thought, I decided to try to breastfeed him in bed and see how it went. As I was breastfeeding…

When Declan was first born I breastfed him, but after breastfeeding I would pump. However, when Declan was 5 months I was worried that I was not producing enough so I decided to pump and bottle-feed him. Declan got used to the bottle feeding and when I tried breastfeeding again he didn’t want it, so I had to go exclusively pumping. When Declan turned 6 months I realized that unlike before I was producing exactly what he needed. I wasn’t able to save anything else and sometimes if Declan wanted to eat more than what he usually eats for some reason I wasn’t able to produce. My fear of not…

The day (s) I cheated on my diet

Have you ever started a diet and you quit on the first day?? So this is my story… If you have read my first blog post on how I am planning on getting healthy you probably already know that I gained 10lb when I first got to the USA. Since then my husband and I started to try to lose weight. We would start a diet and in less than a week, we would quit. I remember that before I was married I was very active, so I could eat pretty much anything and not gain weight. Well once I got married things changed I wasn’t active anymore and I…

    Growth Spurts

Declan is almost 7 months old now. Even though he has been sleeping through the night since he was 8 weeks old, he is now waking up in the middle of the night again. Tiring!!!! So why is that?! Why sometimes our babies are in a perfect routine and all of the sudden they are not? Always get back to the basics. 5 questions I always like to ask myself if Declan is for some reason waking up in the middle of naps or if he is a little more fussy than usual are: Is he well fed? When you ask your self this question make sure that you think…

I think one of my biggest struggles with eating is eating sugary food. I love sweets and honestly, sometimes it is hard to say no to. That is why I have decided that I want to have my babies first year without any sugar.  As I think about parenthood I feel like we do have to pick our battles and this is a battle I have decided to pick. And trust me it will be a battle. One of the hardest parts of this is not battling your child since one of my points is they don’t even know any different. It will be battling other adults that don’t take…

    Dating for marriage

I feel like this subject might cause some controversy, but remember this is my view and I am not trying to force it on anyone.  When I first moved to the USA, I could not help but notice that most families give an age limit for when kids are allowed to date. Allow me to explain what I am talking about and what I am not talking about. When I refer to dating, I am referring to being in a relationship dating and merely going out as a friend.  I don’t know if this is correct or not, however, I would like to share with you guys a different perspective. …

First Long Car Ride With A Baby

This past week Hunter, Declan and I went to Pennsylvania it was an eight hours car ride (which we ended up making in nine and a half), and I have to say it was not bad at all.  Declan was very content for the most of the car ride, besides once we were getting close to our destination he started to cry a little which I can’t blame the little guy for it. It was pretty tiring, and I can only imagine how he was feeling.  However, as I said for the most of the trip, he was very happy and didn’t even cry. He did not sleep the whole…

When I was younger, I knew a couple that whenever the wife got the chance, she would speak bad things about her husband. If the opportunity didn’t arise on its own, it was like she created an opportunity to do so. I remember thinking to myself that I would never do that. I didn’t want to be like that; however, when I started to date my husband, I began to realize how easy it was to do the same thing. It is very easy to speak bad things about someone else so that you can make yourself look “better.” However, when you speak bad things especially about your spouse, you…
